This is a full-time, exempt, staff position. The Academic Advisor and Coordinator of Licensure and Assessment for the School of Education on the Ann Arbor, Michigan campus will provide academic advising and internship placement coordination to students as well as program and curriculum support to the School.  The successful candidate will also work with students on state certification and certifying all teacher and administration candidates. This position reports to the Campus Dean of the School of Education at Ann Arbor, MI.


  • Advise undergraduate student on academic requirements and procedures
  • Develop and maintain individualized four-year academic completion plans for each student
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on petitions and amendments to student's program of study, monitor academic progress, complete graduation audits, evaulate transfer transcripts, etc. 
  • Maintain student files and records
  • Certify all teacher and administration candidates
  • Prepare advising materials, develop and facilitate persentations for new student orientations, information sessions, and visit days
  • Evaluate programs and make recommendations for revision/modification
  • Teach EDU 300- Professional Semester Seminar
  • Responsible for being the CUAA liaison with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and attend all necessary functions of the MDE
  • Work with Dean and SOE faculty/staff, other University Departments, as well as outside consistuents on various projects
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student population
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
  • Knowledge of School of Education academic programs and University admissions policies a plus
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Qualtrex, internet, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge to operate standard office equipment, i.e., computer, fax machine, copier, etc.
  • Ability to accommodate occasional and overnight travel

Education and Experience
A Master's Degree or close to competing Master's program in student-related service area and two or more years of experience in academic counseling or a closely related field is required. Must support the mission and values of Concordia University and Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).

Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time position. Starting range is dependent upon on individual qualifications and experience.
