Concordia University seeks applicants for the full-time, exempt position of Career Strategist in our Career Services department. This position provides career and professional development for CUW students and alumni to build lifetime employability: traditional undergraduate and graduate (School of Arts and Science, School of Health Professions), accelerated learning, and online learning on the Mequon campus and at our satellite campuses.  This position reports to the Director of Career Services and is a part of the Student Academic Support Services area. This position is located on the Mequon, Wisconsin campus.


  • Provides individual career engagement for CUW students and alumni, including interpretation of assessment inventories, resume, cover letter, and mock interview preparation
  • Coordinates the Explore ministry which outreaches to and educates undecided students
  • Represents Career Services at university events such as Registration and Visit Days and in CUW classes where appropriate
  • Markets, manages and maintains CUW's online resources and social media accounts (Optimal Resume, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Responsible for managing and collecting data for the CUW post graduate survey
  • Maintain employer relationships in industries related to student caseload (SAS, SHP)
  • Promotes Career Services across campus and in the surrounding community
  • Visits and provides resources for CUW's many Centers
  • Remains current on issues and trends related to career planning and market place needs, which includes professional development opportunities off campus
  • Helps staff events including job fairs, workshops, and networking events
  • Performs other related duties as outlined by the Director of Career Services

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum two years of experience in higher education preferred
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse populations of students, faculty, and constituents
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking situations often occur
  • Strong organizational skills required to follow through on assigned projects and meet deadlines
  • Available some evenings and weekends as needed
  • Proficient writing and public speaking skills
  • Understanding of and commitment to CUW's mission and ministry


Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position.  Starting range is dependent upon on individual qualifications and experience. Concordia health, disability and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees and their eligible dependents.  Tuition benefits are also available for employees and their qualified dependents.
