Concordia University (CU) Ann Arbor seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position as Physician Assistant Program Director  This is a twelve-month contract with the University. Full-time faculty fulfill the university's mission to help students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world via teaching, scholarship and service. The Physician Assistant Studies program is a new program at Ann Arbor and the Program Director will be in charge of completing all accreditation documents and hiring faculty. An on-site accreditation visit is scheduled for 2018. Faculty members participate in curriculum development and assessment, and advise and mentor students while serving as Christian role-models.  This position reports to a Campus Dean at Ann Arbor and the program is housed in the School of Health Professions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the PA program in accordance with CU and ARC-PA standards
  • Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and manage department faculty and support staff
  • Develop curriculum and program(s); improve and maintain program standards to ensure accreditation compliance
  • Ensure faculty and students meet standards and guidelines regarding didactic or clinical activities at off-campus medical facilities
  • Design and evaluate didactic and clinical curriculum to ensure expected competencies are met
  • Assess, evaluate, and implement program changes as needed
  • Prepare and manage PA Program budget
  • Responsible for strategic planning, program growth, and development
  • May perform other related duties as assigned

Each faculty member is expected to comply with all rules and regulations for University faculty as outlined in the CU and Faculty Handbooks. In addition, each has the following responsibilities:

1. Academic

  • Teach 24 academic credits per year, or the equivalent
  • Participate actively in curriculum development and assessment
  • Hold 10 office hours each week when classes are in session

2. Scholarship

  • Perform research, scholarship or creative activities according to the standards established in the CU Faculty handbook

3. Service Responsibilities

  • Serve actively on committees within the department, school and/or university
  • Assist in student recruitment, advising and mentoring
  • Attend opening service, faculty retreat and commencement exercises
  • Attend and participate in plenary faculty meetings and the annual faculty retreat

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Dedication to the academic priorities of CU and the CU mission
  • Previous experience with ARC-PA accreditation procedures and articulation processes is preferred
  • Experience in activities that focus on assessment and student learning outcomes is preferred

Position Requirements

  • Current Michigan PA or MD/DO licensure or eligible to obtain
  • Graduate of Physician Assistant program and Master degree in Physician Assistant Studies, or related field; and an earned doctorate is preferred
  • NCCPA certification and current registration is required
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years as a faculty member in a PA program or comparable experience is required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability; curriculum development, teaching, and administration is required
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly and service activity is required

Compensation and Benefits This is a full-time, faculty, exempt position. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.
