Concordia University (CU) is a faith-based university located in Ann Arbor, MI, seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position in the Physician Assistant (PA) Program. The PA program is housed in the School of Health Professions, and has a mission to prepare competent PA's who are committed to caring for patients in mind, body and spirit with an emphasis on primary care and preventive medicine. The faculty member will have the following responsibilities:


Didactic Educators

  • Teach 24 academic credits per year, or the equivalent
  • Participate actively in curriculum development and assessment
  • Participate in program ongoing self-assessment
  • Hold 10 office hours each week when classes are in session
  • Didactic Educators will rotate through the Clinical Educator position every 2- 3 years

Clinical Educator

  • Responsible for coordinating, identifying, developing and maintaining clinical rotation sites for the clinical training year of the PA program along with the Clinical Coordinator
  • Facilitate evaluation visits to clinical sites; designate program faculty as needed to evaluate clinical training sites
  • Teach, advise, mentor PA students in the classroom during the clinical year
  • Oversee qualitative and quantitative evaluations of the preceptors and students during clinical rotations
  • Participate in program ongoing self-assessment
  • Clinical Educators will rotate into Didactic Educator positions after completing a 2-3 year role as Clinical Educator


  • Perform research, scholarship or creative activities according to the standards established in the CU Faculty handbook


  • Serve actively on committees within the department, school and/or university
  • Assist in student recruitment, advising and mentoring
  • Attend opening service, faculty retreat and commencement exercises
  • Attend and participate in plenary faculty meetings and the annual faculty retreat

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Dedication to the academic priorities of CU and the CU/PA program mission
  • Previous experience with ARC-PA accreditation procedures and articulation processes is preferred
  • Experience in activities that focus on assessment and student learning outcomes is preferred
  • Experience with simulation learning activities beneficial

Position Requirements

  • Current Michigan licensure or eligible to obtain
  • Graduate of Physician Assistant program with a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies; an earned doctorate is preferred
  • NCCPA certification and current registration is required
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years as a faculty member in a PA program or comparable experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability; curriculum development, teaching, and administration is required
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly and service activity is required

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position. Starting range is dependent upon on individual qualifications and experience. Concordia health, disability and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees and their eligible dependents.
