Concordia University invites applications for the new full-time faculty position of Program Director for the Department of Occupational Therapy.  Concordia plans to establish a new Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree program on the Ann Arbor, MI campus and is seeking a qualified occupational therapist to develop the program.  The Occupational Therapy Department is housed in the School of Health Professions and this position reports to the Dean of the School of Health Professions.

Concordia seeks an individual who has a strong vision for occupational therapy, higher education, and innovative education strategies to prepare occupational therapists to meet the challenges of changing healthcare systems and collaborate with interprofessional teams.


  • Development of a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) program
  • Management and administration of the program
  • Program assessment
  • Strategic Planning
  • Hiring and mentoring of faculty
  • Communicating with ACOTE and following ACOTE Standards
  • Other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of ACOTE standards and experience in assessment preferred
  • Demonstrated evidence of teaching, administrative and scholarship experience in an academic setting
  • Effective communication and leadership skills fostering interprofessional interaction

Education and Experience

  • Current certified occupational therapist who is licensed to work in Michigan
  • Must hold a doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Possess a minimum of 8 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy. This experience according to ACOTE standards must include:
    • Clinical practice as an occupational therapist
    • Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting
    • Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning
    • Understanding of the role of the occupational therapy assistant
    • At least 3 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-baccalaureate level

Compensation and Benefits 

This is a full-time, faculty, exempt position. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.
