Concordia University is now seeking applicants for the position of part-time Classroom Support Specialist at the CUAA Ann Arbor, Michigan Campus! The Classroom Support Specialist is responsible for providing both classroom based technical support and live event / production AV support. Ideal candidates would be excited about the world of AV, enjoy demonstrating and helping others use technology and learning new methods and tools. This position will work with and over a variety of different areas including live streaming, control systems (Extron, Poly, Zoom), traditional AV for presentation and live performance capture across a variety of venues ranging from outside, theatrical, classroom and boardroom. Flexibility in complex situations and strong desire/ability to learn to news and methods key attributes of our ideal candidate. This position will support the needs of classroom operations by providing technical assistance and troubleshooting of equipment. There is occasional integration work of helping to identify needs, research, installing and testing of equipment. This position is a 12 month part-time, non-exempt (hourly) working less than 20 hrs. per week reporting to the Director of Information Technology Services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides audio/visual services as requested
  • Provide Immediate support for CUAA-North building IT needs
  • Assist faculty with questions and finding solutions
  • Assist with A/V Campus needs in coordination with other team members
  • Work with Entire IT team and liaison with other departments on projects and needs
  • Assist with Planning and implementation of new equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure in sometimes dynamic environments
  • Supervised the work of part-time student workers including training and supervision
  • Maintains an inventory of classroom and A/V equipment, coordinates schedules and maintenance of equipment
  • Assist in production, recording, editing and duplication of audio/video recorded events
  • Provide training and support of classroom and online technologies
  • Works with faculty to support best practices with equipment
  • Schedule, setup and verify video conferencing between sites
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Attention to Detail
  • Knowledge of classroom equipment use and proper maintenance
  • Knowledge of AV systems
  • Experience with Live Event Audio/Video
  • Ability to Problem Solve system
  • Ability to Work under pressure
  • Extron AV system Knowledge
  • Ability to Use basic tools / small power tools
  • Able to work independently and maintain a schedule with limited supervision
  • Able to deal with stressful situations in a professional manner
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends
  • Integration of classroom systems

Education and Experience

  • Two year Associate degree in related field, Bachelor's degree preferred (experience may be substituted for some education)
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience
  • CTS certification preferred
  • Experience with online streaming and recording solutions services preferred
  • Knowledge of video distribution networks preferred

Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) staff position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. Tuition benefits are available for employees; however, there are no other benefits associated with this position.
