Concordia University (CU) faculty fulfill the university's mission to help students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world through teaching, scholarship, and service. Concordia University faculty are active scholars in their academic disciplines and participate in the life of the university via curriculum development, academic program assessment, and other activities that support student recruitment, retention, and engagement. All Concordia Occupational Therapy faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in graduate school teaching.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach classes as assigned and agreed upon with the OT department chair
  • Participate in departmental and university wide committees
  • Participate in service to the community (within CU, professionally, and/or personally)
  • Establish / continue a line of scholarship / research inquiry
  • Advise students effectively based on departmental or university student advising policies
  • Attend departmental, school, and university wide faculty meetings
  • Attend opening ceremony, graduation, faculty retreat and other CU gatherings as requested by administration
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to teach using a variety of methods to reach a broad spectrum of learners
  • Ability to authentically integrate Christian faith with teaching and learning
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty in various healthcare disciplines within the School of Health Professions, the campus at large, and within the community
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and organize work in a busy university setting
  • Ability to demonstrate ingenuity and prompt action in resolving problems
  • Ability to be well organized, detail oriented, accurate, and able to prioritize work
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the University
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentially
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain an ongoing calendar in Outlook with recurring deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, can-do, service-oriented attitude with Department Chair, all faculty and students
  • Ability to maintain proficiency in technology for student teaching and interactions including Microsoft Office, databases, web interaction, and the CU designated learning management system

Education and Experience

  • Earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD, OTD) in Occupational Therapy (OT) or a related discipline or doctoral work in process. Post-professional doctorate preferred
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience in rehabilitation of clients with variety of pediatric diagnoses and/or in different pediatric settings
  • Current Wisconsin license to practice as an OT (or eligible for Wisconsin licensure)
  • Prior successful teaching experience in higher education is preferred, with knowledge of both a blended content delivery method as well as online teaching methodologies

Compensation and Benefits
