Position Description

Concordia University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty/Capstone Coordinator position in Occupational Therapy. This position reports to the Program Director of the Occupational Therapy Department in the School of Health Professions at the Ann Arbor, MI campus. The position is scheduled to begin full time June 1, 2022, with availability for up to 19.5 hours/week for orientation/curriculum development beginning January 1, 2022. The position requires faculty to live in proximity to campus to allow on-site activities.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Concordia University full-time faculty fulfill the university's mission to help students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world via teaching, scholarship and service. The successful candidate will plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate capstone projects/experiences in the Occupational Therapy program. In addition, the position includes teaching capstone related courses in the professional program, supervising students in the community, developing a scholarship agenda, participating in service activities, advising students, and maintaining currency in clinical practice. Concordia University faculty are active scholars in their academic disciplines and participate in the life of the university via curriculum development, academic program assessment, and other activities that support student recruitment, retention and engagement. All Concordia faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in college-level teaching.

Education & Experience

  • Applicants will hold an earned doctorate in Occupational Therapy or a related discipline; PhD or post-professional doctorate preferred. Candidates who are ABD may be considered.
  • Prior successful teaching experience in higher education is preferred with knowledge of both a blended content delivery method as well as online teaching methodologies.
  • Eligible candidates will have current licensure or be eligible for licensure to practice occupational therapy in Michigan.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical or teaching experience with documented evidence of expertise including knowledge or participation in clinical practice (community based and/or creation of new programs), oversight of student or staff projects, and solid background in ability to interact with community partners and market new programs.
  • High-level organization skills and familiarity with database management.
  • Possess an interest in establishing/continuing a line of scholarship/research inquiry.
  • Willingness to collaborate with faculty in various healthcare disciplines within the School of Health Professions, as well as the campus at large.
