Position Description

Concordia University invites applications for the Director of Clinical Education (DCE) position in Physical Therapy. This position reports to the Program Director of the Physical Therapy Department in the School of Health Professions at the Ann Arbor, MI campus. The position is scheduled to begin November 1, 2021.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Concordia University full-time faculty fulfill the university's mission to help students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world via teaching, scholarship and service. The successful candidate will plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate student clinical learning experiences in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. In addition, the position includes teaching physical therapy courses in the professional program, supervising students in the community, developing a scholarship agenda, participating in service activities, and mentoring students. Concordia University faculty are active scholars in their academic disciplines and participate in the life of the university via curriculum development, academic program assessment, and other activities that support student recruitment, retention and engagement. All Concordia faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in college-level teaching.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Effective communication (written and verbal), high-level organization skills and familiarity with database management
  • Ability to conduct peer-reviewed scholarship/research
  • Willingness to collaborate with faculty in various healthcare disciplines within the School of Health Professions, as well as the campus at large
  • Demonstrates effective leadership, organizational skills, and is a self-starter
  • Exhibits a willingness and ability to work with diverse individuals and organizations
  • Familiar with the university campus life
  • Able to deal with interruptions and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to present a Christian and professional manner
  • All candidates should possess an ability to meet deadlines

Education & Experience

  • Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT); applicants with a post-professional doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, ScD, etc.) in a related field are preferred
  • Prior successful clinical supervision, coordination and teaching experience in higher education is preferred
  • Eligible candidates will have current licensure or be eligible for licensure to practice physical therapy in Michigan
  • Minimum of three years of physical therapy clinical experience

This is a full-time, exempt (salary) faculty position. The starting wage is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience. Concordia University benefit options include, but are not limited to the following:
