Concordia University seeks applicants for the part-time, flexible, hourly position of Assistant Lab Technician. This position is directly responsible for maintaining inventory, procuring supplies, and preparing the weekly teaching laboratory activity supply needs. This position is for the Compounding Teaching Lab of the Department of Pharmaceutical Science located in the School of Pharmacy on the Mequon, WI, campus, and reports to the pharmaceutics faculty.


  • Maintain supply stockroom
    • Procure and receive supplies from specific vendors
    • Maintain and manage inventory
  • Prepare and set up for pharmacy compounding teaching laboratories
  • Supervise student workers assigned to laboratory preparation
  • Work with the Environmental Safety Officer to ensure that Concordia's teaching lab meets required safety standards
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, abilities

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, organize work, and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge about pharmacy operations or compounding would be helpful but not required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and facility with basic computer programs (Word, Excel, Internet, etc.)
  • Ability to work some evening and weekend hours as needed; hours may vary due to lab scheduling but are somewhat flexible

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Relevant work experience and previous work in a pharmacy (particularly in a compounding pharmacy and/or pharmacy procurement) would be helpful, but not required. 

Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time, staff, non-exempt position. Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience. Tuition benefits are available for employees.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
