Concordia University seeks applicants for the part-time position of Simulation Technician in the School of Nursing (SON) in Mequon, WI. The Simulation Technician assists the Simulation Laboratory Coordinator in the operation of the simulation lab by faculty, staff, students, and community partners. This position reports to the Simulation Laboratory Coordinator and further through the Dean of the School of Nursing.


  • Prepare and operate simulators, A/V, and other equipment
  • Assist in introducing stakeholders to simulation principles, simulators, equipment, and environment
  • Ensure safe and appropriate use of simulators, simulation rooms, equipment, and props
  • Participate as a Standardized Patient as needed
  • Troubleshoot simulator hardware and software
  • Perform preventive, regular, and corrective maintenance on simulation equipment
  • Attend all simulation team meetings
  • Utilize resources effectively and efficiently (money, people, and space)
  • Support research projects facilitated in the Simulation Lab, as appropriate
  • Participate in professional development to maintain current knowledge and learn emerging simulation practices
  • Support the Mission of CUW, and the Visions of the CUW School of Nursing and CUW Simulation Laboratory
  • Other duties as assigned

Functional Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Functional knowledge of common operating systems (Windows & Mac), web-based application and information systems (email, Sign-up genius, CUW website)
  • Functional knowledge of A/V equipment, software, and formats for recording and duplication
  • Ability to apply the various modalities of simulation training (manikins and standardized patients)

Professional Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Minimum of two years of recent work experience in direct patient care in a healthcare setting
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Awareness of and adherence to policies and procedures

Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time, staff, non-exempt position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. Tuition benefits are available for employees; however, there are no other benefits associated with this position.
