Concordia University seeks applicants for the Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator Faculty position in the School of Nursing at Concordia University.

This position role is responsible for overseeing the Nursing Skills Laboratory. The successful applicant will be a registered professional nurse faculty member whose primary responsibilities are managing the Skills Laboratory and staff, teaching students, and overseeing skills instruction and testing in the lab. This position reports to the Chair of the Undergraduate Nursing Program.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin or eligible for such licensure.
  • A Master of Science degree in Nursing is required.
  • Evidence of teaching experience is preferred.
  • Competency in fundamental nursing psychomotor skills.
  • Competency in health assessment skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Certified in CPR for Basic Life Support (BLS),

Specific Responsibilities:

Responsibilities to the University

  • Instructors are expected to comply with all rules and regulations for University faculty as outlined in the Concordia University (CU) and School of Nursing (SON) Faculty Handbooks.
  • Attends all university, School of Nursing, and Traditional Undergraduate Program meetings as required.
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
  • Advise students.
  • Participate in professional, community, university, and school service
  • Engage in peer-reviewed scholarship activities commensurate with academic rank.

Responsibilities to the School of Nursing

  • Orients self to CU's mission and nursing framework by reviewing student handbook, nursing faculty handbook, and undergraduate curriculum.
  • Educates students on psychomotor skills through demonstration, discussion and the use of critical thinking.
  • Maintains lesson plans for skills-based instruction, including the materials and staffing required for demonstration and testing.
  • Coordinates student testing of required psychomotor skills according to specific and established criteria using best practices.
  • Provides timely written and verbal feedback related to student performance.
  • Keeps current records of student grades and academic work.
  • Supervises lab staff and instruction within the lab environment.
  • Supervises the Equipment Manager in ordering and maintaining adequate supplies and equipment for lab demonstration and practice.
  • Reviews and updates annual Skills Lab budget.
  • Serves as the SON representative to the CUW Interprofessional Education (IPE) program.
  • Participates in ongoing course and program review and revision.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintains required professional certifications.
  • Maintains current knowledge of clinical practice within the area of teaching responsibility.
  • Updates curriculum vitae annually.
  • Promotes profession nursing through reflective learning and mentoring.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, 12 month position. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. Concordia health, disability, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time employees and eligible dependents.  Tuition benefits are also available for employees and their qualified dependents.
